AIKE is presenting the exhibition “通\道 exit”, the first part of the show has closed its curtain at Dangxia art space whilst “通\道 exit” is a shifting speed. Adopting theatre as a format of this exhibition, or exhibition-as-theater, the curator would break the everyday field of vision by presenting a multi-dimensional rotating stage/construction site. Unlike the process of wearing off in Beijing, four groups of artworks by four sets of artists will emerge in crescendo from poesis to techne to embodied space until the empty exhibition hall becomes a cantata.
In Yang Qian’s view, the “exit” embodies a faith in distorted space. Or, the passage from one space to another would offer a contrast, although such a spatial contrast would eventually return to her spiritual origin.
As such, her passage resembles a Möbius ring, going from front to back and back again in a continuous loop of self-consumption. These exhausted energies eventually lead to further distortions of space.
She embarked from the urban trauma, fled from her home, and returns to the self through this passage.
In a way, her soliloquy is the passage, the one within. Where does it all take us? I don’t know yet.
-Yowoo
Let a way of life
Numb whole sectors of mankind
And only half-stroked thoughts of
Something should be done
Are nodded over tea.
Now,
so late
we only hope
that others dare
those things
we thought
too bold.
Aristotle weaved in and out of Poetics, as an exodus.
Tragedy and epic, blend into each other.
Milton touched the city with unseen eyes.
The traction of all changes, clogging paths.
The city – rehearsed The New Poetics,
Congesting around every traffic lane.
—
One, two, three.
Pathway, crowded.
Passage, void.
Exit, closed.
I'm not talking about a collective experience.
Actually, I passed over.
In another passage,
With whom meet face to face.
—
A rhythm
of pathos and staccato.
The isolation
Like an universal experience
exit,
A theater directive.
Please retreat, slower again.
Let your toes slit the ground.
At the end of a film
Credits roll,
People salute.
The hanging lighthouse
Looking out for the horizon.
With the timid hearts, our body flee from the border. The drop of rain that has yet to fall from the sky.
