The Galleria dell’Arco is pleased to announce the opening of the personal exhibition of Silvia Camporesi entitled Le ragioni del peso (The Reasons of Weight), which displays a series of large canvases arranged in dyptichs portray the desolated reality of a wasted dumping ground. Each dyptich was conceived departing from a primary image: a blown up image of massive heap of dirt and wrecks, to which the artist has juxtaposed a specular “double”, by resorting to the technique of the “redoublement.”
As the curator, Walter Guadagnini writes, “the works on display – the large dimensions of which induce the viewer to cope emotionally with a pronounced disproportion – can be differently interpreted and enable the viewer to develop a variety of approaches. These approaches are induced by the primary as well as the secondary picture, i.e. but that picture that results from the doubling of the primary one and of the connection of each work of art belonging to the same series […].The moment in which the picture is doubled, its value as document is almost lost, whereas the formal elements that characterize it as sheer view of a landscape result strenghtened. At the same time, however, such a landscape cannot be indentified as belonging to the classic tradition of the genre, but can be rather located in that parallel, dream-like dimension that is one of Camporesi’s distinctive features. In such a dimension one can find a harmony, an equilibrium quite unexpected in a place that seems capable of communicating only a sensation of disorder and chaos.”
